What better ma Strawberry Dairy Pop Tart? Huge milky strawberry pop tart AKA Mega-sized homemade version of your favorite packaged pop tart!

Huge milky strawberry pop tart

When I was growing up, I loved to start my day with a pack of pop tarts. I enjoy every taste: cinnamon sugar, s’mores, blueberries, hot Sunday fudge … all impeccable. But best of all? Milky strawberry. And the only thing better than a milky strawberry pop tart is a giant tart. Made with buttery and peeling dough, wonderfully sweet strawberry jam and sweet vanilla glaze, this is a breakfast treat with baking proportions.

What is a giant frozen pop tart

This super-large version of your favorite nostalgic breakfast pastry (unless you’re a strudel toaster girl … and in that case, I respect you, but I can not help you) is a lot less work to prepare than a personal homemade tart pop and it’s delicious the same size. Plus it’s simple fun. It’s the perfect treat to whip up for a special holiday breakfast or festive weekend brunch.

What does it take to make a giant pop tart?

The lovely thing about this giant pop tart is that you only need a few simple ingredients to whip it up. It feels like a special treat for breakfast, but takes a fraction of the time of making homemade cinnamon rolls and requires far fewer hands on time than pancakes. Plus, it’s just fun. Here is your shopping list:

  • Pie crustA: To make things super simple, you can grab a pre-made pie crust in the store, or you can make your own (we highly recommend!), With our step-by-step homemade dough recipe! If you choose to make your own, you will need flour, sugar, butter and water, which you probably already have on hand!
  • Strawberry jam: The quality of your strawberry jam will make or break your pop tart, so make sure you get a good one. We love Bon Maman, but any high quality jam will suit. Look for jams with only a few ingredients (fruit, sugar, lemon and fruit pectin, and no unexpressible ingredient).
  • sugar powder: For the coating you will need powdered sugar to thicken and sweeten the coating.
  • milk: A few tablespoons of milk will give your coating the perfect consistency.
  • Vanilla extract: A splash of vanilla extract will make your pop tart taste ~ gourmet ~ or at least a little more refined than the package version.
  • Sprinels: You don’t have to cover your giant pop tart with splashes, but it definitely makes it more fun to eat.

Huge pop tart

Do not worry if you are not a fan of strawberries. You can fill this huge pop tart with any filling you want! You can easily replace the strawberry jam with another fruit (we like apricots if you are looking for a more refined flavor), nutella, peanut butter, or really any spread. Your world.

How to serve your giant strawberry pop tart

This big pop tart is basically a manual pie so there will be some peeling to cut it. Use a thin, sharp knife to cut the giant pop tart into 8 large pieces (they will be about the size of a regular pop tart), or 16 smaller ones! I like to cut it so that each piece has a little crust to stabilize it.

Component

For the pop tart

  • 2 Pie crust (you can make one homemade or in a store bought!)
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry jam
  • 1 Egg, optional for egg washing

For the cherry

  • 2 cups sugar powder
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Celsius. Line a pan with baking paper and set aside.
  2. Roll out half of the pie dough on a well-floured surface. Roll the dough into a 12-inch by 8-inch rectangle with a sharp knife. Carefully roll the dough back around the rolling pin and roll out on the prepared baking pan.
  3. Prey on a large egg with 2 tablespoons of water. Use a pastry brush to brush the outer inch of the dough onto the baking tray. Spread the strawberry jam in the center of the lower crust, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
  4. Roll out the second pie dough to the first size and carefully place the second piece of dough over the first, using your fingers to push the dough slightly around the edges. Use a large fork to make grooves along the border of the pop tart, then stick a fork lightly in the center of the pop tart to allow air to escape.
  5. Brush the entire top of the pop tart with the remaining egg wash if using. This step is not necessary, but will give your pop tart a beautiful shine.
  6. Bake for 17 to 20 minutes, until the dough gets a light golden brown. Allow to cool while preparing the glaze.
  7. To make the glaze, combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl and use a whisk to mix together until a uniform and homogeneous mixture is obtained.
  8. Spread the glaze evenly over the cooled pop tart (it’s okay if it’s still a little hot!) And sprinkle over it! Use a sharp, thin knife to cut into 8 equal pieces. have fun!

Remarks

  1. You can easily make this recipe vegan by using vegan pie dough and omitting the egg wash.
