easy Matzah It only requires 3 simple ingredients! Last year we decided to have a Christmas dinner with our children to help us remember Jesus Messiah at Christmas. This matzah has quickly become a favorite of our children.
When I decided to make this dinner, I researched what dishes were typical of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus’ birth. I wanted to make a meal that was very similar to something people would eat at the time.
Matzah There was one dish that continued to rise in my research. It was simple and matched perfectly with the other recipes I had planned, like our light homemade chickpeas.
What ingredients do I need to make matzah?
All you need is this 3 components… well, really only 2 if not counting water because I do not even think of it as an ingredient!
There are almost no excuses not to make this bread! You have all the ingredients and no need to swell, so easy!
How to make matzah
You thought the list of ingredients was easy, wait until you see how easy it is to make! ready Set Go…
- Mix the flour and salt in a bowl and mix together.
- Add the water and while stirring until the dough comes together into a ball.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes. And before you complain about kneading, it builds muscle and character!
- Preheat the pan on the stove over medium-high heat. Separate the dough into 5-7 balls, depending on how big you want the pieces of bread.
- Roll each piece of dough on a lightly floured surface to a diameter of about 6 cm.
- Cook each portion on a hot pan for about 2 minutes on each side.
- Serve hot. I like to brush a little melted butter on them and garnish with some fresh herbs. I choose the herb according to what I serve it with. Parsley is always good or coriander!
Is pita a matzah?
Although flakes are flat bread, it uses leavening material so that flakes are not matzah.
Are tortillas matzah?
Yes! Tortilla recipes do not use a leavening agent and are therefore considered yeast-free. But unlike this recipe, tortillas also use fat or lard in the dough to make them a little softer and more pliable, like our light homemade tortillas!
Is it possible to bake matzah instead of frying?
Yes! Place the rolled dough in one layer on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. The oven should be at 400 degrees and they will bake for about 3 minutes on each side.
Are matzos healthy?
Matzah is low in fat and calories but rich in carbohydrates. It depends on what you are looking to cut or reduce in your diet, but as with anything, balance is key!
How long will the matzah be kept?
If the bread is stored covered and refrigerated, it can last Up to a week.
Is it possible to freeze matzah?
No yeast can be stored in the freezer for Up to two months. When you are ready to eat it, just place it on the counter and let it reach room temperature.

- 1 Goblet water cold
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
