How to Store Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies

Stale cookies make me sad. And I do not want you to be sad – obviously. So I have compiled my top tips to ensure your cookies stay fresh in the oven even when they are on the third day.

We almost always have leftover pastries around the house (surprise, surprise), so I kind of included the whole cookie storage thing. Here are my top tips to keep your cookies soft, chewy and fresh!

  • Under baking! Under baking your cookies will slightly give them a soft and sticky center that will stay softer over time from a cookie that is already starting to get a little dry and overbaked!
  • Allow cookies to cool completely before storing. If you try to store the cookies while they are still hot, they will form a condensation in your container or bag and will trap the water droplets there. I do not know about you, but I do not like moist cookies.
  • Seal in a container or airtight bag. The less air around your cookies the better! If your container or bag allows air to flow in your cookies will dry faster. This is why I prefer to store cookies in a plastic bag or claw tool instead of foil or plastic wrap in a plate!
  • If you do not intend to eat them all in the foreseeable future, FREEZE ‘EM. If you know you’re not going to plow 12 more cookies in the next few days, store them in the freezer instead! These Oreo chocolate chip cookies will be kept in the freezer for up to two months!
