A cheese-stuffed pizza has been a staple in my home for the past few months. The reason is simple, my kids love pizza and for some reason, they love that the crust has a thick apple tip. And what is the easiest way to achieve this? By filling with more cheese. You’ve never tried it, you say? So let’s make a cheese-stuffed pizza together today.

There is nothing complicated in this recipe, You can use your favorite pizza dough, even in a store if you like. But it’s obviously better to make your own dough … it’s cheaper, tastier and you know exactly what goes into it. If you need a recipe for this, check out mine A recipe for homemade pizza dough.

I’m going to use pretty simple plugins for It’s … basil marinade, mozzarella, pork, corn and red onion. This is a combination that my kids love the most, but you will definitely feel free to use your favorite toppings. After all, this recipe is to show you how to make the cheese-stuffed crust mostly, the rest is up to you.

advice: Try my other pizza recipes too! My kids love it White chicken pizza And my favorite is a Pizza Prosciutto and Gelfano 🙂

In which cheese to fill the crust?

The answer is simple, the mozzarella works best and it is also the most authentic type of cheese to use in pizza. You can buy a lump of mozzarella with low humidity and cut it into strips as I did or look for mozzarella strips, twists or strings. Do not buy the mozzarella strips in bread, These are not a good choice for a cheese stuffed crust. Alternatively, you can use any “hard” cheese that melts nicely, I used Adam or Cheddar In the past and the results were pretty good … but mozzarella wins every day 🙂

How to make a pizza stuffed with cheese?

Watch the video or scroll down for step-by-step instructions:

I have already prepared the dough in advance so we will start creating the base. Since we are going to fill the crust with cheese, we need except for more dough than we would normally use. I work with a dough ball that weighs around 300 grams (10 oz).

Dust your desktop with a good amount of flour and use your hands to create a round shape. Once the base is large enough, use a roller to make it nice and thin. And again, keep in mind that we are making a cheese-stuffed crust so that the base should be larger than the final pizza.

I love using one of these pizza pans, it makes everything a lot easier. Definitely get one, if you make pizza often. Simply brush it with a little olive oil so that the dough does not stick to it.

advice: You can of course also use a regular mold, in this case I would suggest preparing the crust on a sheet of baking paper and then transferring it to the mold after it is ready for baking.

Transfer the dough to a pan and pull it over the edges, The base should be an inch larger than the pan on all sides.

I’m going to use low humidity mozzarella to fill the crust, String cheese also works well, but you can also use Edam or a similar type of cheese. Let’s cut the mozzarella lump into strips and place them around the base of the pizza.

advice: If you want to get a completely round shape, cut the mozzarella strips into shorter pieces.

Once you have formed a beautiful circle, it is time to fold the dough over the cheese and lock it. This part is a bit complicated so do not try to rush and take your time so as not to break the dough.

Use your fingers to gently press the dough down to seal the edges. Pay attention to this part, if you do not do it properly, the cheese will leak from the crust while baking.

And now for the extras. I start with a simple marinade I made by mixing chopped basil leaves with tomato paste. Add a few tablespoons and spread it around the base evenly.

Dried oregano comes later, I add quite a bit because I like the smell of it. You can also use a pizza spice mix purchased at the store, some of which are actually quite nice.

Now a solid serving of grated mozzarella! I use about 200 grams or 7 ounces for one pizza, but feel free to use less if you want. A nice amount of pork comes later. I just rip it by hand, no need to strive for perfection, right?

My kids love corn on their pizza, So I’ll add that too, but feel free to skip it if that’s not your thing. And now something I love about my pizza, a thinly sliced red onion … and quite a bit of it.

For a cheesy addition, let’s add some fresh mozzarella. I use about half a ball for one pizza of this size. One last touch of oregano and we are ready to bake.

When baking pizza at home, Always preheat the oven to whatever maximum temperature it is capable of. Based on the high temperature, it will take the pizza between 10 and 20 minutes to bake. I know it’s a pretty big time frame, but each oven bakes differently so always pay attention to the color while you bake.

Once the crust is golden and the cheese begins to char slightly, It’s time to take it out of the oven.

And now let’s cut to it to see how we got along. The edges swelled nicely and as you can see, They are beautifully stuffed with melted cheese.

And that’s for today, our cheese stuffed pizza is ready! Thanks for reading the blog or watching the video and see you next time.
