A classic chunky Pork salad recipe With pork, pickles, onions and celery, everything is mixed with mayonnaise and seasoned with salt and pepper! So good! A perfect recipe for use on any leftover baked pork.

What is a pork salad?

Pork salad is one of those traditional recipes reminiscent of other dishes like egg salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, macaroni salad, pea salad and potato salad. The most common ingredient in all of these recipes is mayonnaise! Along with the pork salad includes, of course, pork and chopped vegetables in flavors like celery, pickles and onions. Most of the time, you can find this “salad” ground into a spreadable dip but I kept it a little more chunky (all in personal preference). Pork salad is served cold on crackers, on a sandwich or plain.

Best pork to use

Any cooked pork steak or pork will suit this recipe. This recipe is a great opportunity to use leftover pork from the holidays (whether it’s Easter, Christmas or Thanksgiving). If it has a sweet glaze on it, these sweet flavors will come out in a salad. I recommend cutting the pieces covered in glaze if you do not want sweetness to come.

Delicious variations

There are many varieties of pork salad out there, which makes this recipe really enjoyable and customizable. Feel free to play and make this dish your own! Here are some ideas to help you get started:

  • hard boiled eggs
  • Peppers
  • Cheddar cheese
  • cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Tomato
  • Green onions
  • mustard
  • lemon juice
  • Sour juice

What can I use other than mayonnaise?

If you are looking for something a little healthier than simple mayonnaise, I would suggest Light sour cream or even Plain Greek yogurt.

Preparation ingredients

Prepare all the ingredients by rinsing, measuring, chopping and cutting into cubes.

Mix together

In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

How to grind pork salad

If you want your meat salad to grind into smaller pieces, take out a food processor and mix everything together until it reaches the thickness you like. If it does not connect add a splash of pickle juice, lemon juice or white vinegar and flash again. I like a more plump consistency so I choose to cut my meat into slightly finer cubes, but this is a great option if you prefer a finer consistency.

to serve!

Serve on sandwich bread, on rolls, in a wrapper, on pita, with crackers or plain!

storage instructions

Cover well and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days! I would not recommend freezing pork salad as mayonnaise tends to separate when thawed. Doha.
