If you’ve ever had pigs in a blanket, this is actually an easier and more accessible way to enjoy this classic. The bread cheese dog combined everything you love: airy dough, tender sausages, and of course, a surprise cheese filling. And today, we don’t make just one version of this dish! We have to use our cheese dogs, after all. And what better way to do that than to also make cheese rolls for an idol dog? A gorgeous golden brown, this is another wonderful way to enjoy your hot dogs.

Instead of your usual hotsilog or fried ham and cheese buns, try these Idol Bites! Whether at a party or with your closest loved ones, this compact snack will put a smile on everyone’s face. And it’s also so easy to make!

First things first: let’s make your Idol Bites!

Making these pigs in a blanket starts with the soft and fluffy dough that wraps your idol cheese dogs! Mix in a bowl 2 cups of flour, a quarter cup of steamed milk and 2 teaspoons of salt. Once mixed well, set them aside and prepare your wet ingredients – milk, canola oil and egg – in another bowl. Mix these equally, before combining the dry and wet ingredients and mixing equally. When you are happy with your mixture, you can start kneading your dough until you have a completely elastic texture. Form the dough into a ball, cover it and let it rest for 15 minutes. This will help distribute the liquid, so that every part of your dough will be soft and smooth.

Fifteen minutes up? We recommend dividing the dough into two parts to make it easier to roll out. Use a rolling pin to do this; Flatten the dough, then slice them into small triangles. These triangles are what you will use to wrap each portion of your CDO Idol Cheesedogs! Do this until you have wrapped all the cheese dogs in your dough. Your bread dog treats arrive perfectly!

With an egg and a spoonful of evaporated milk, make your own egg wash and brush it over your breaded cheese dog. Then pop your Idol Bites in the oven or air fryer and let these cheese dogs cook! If you use the former, 12 to 15 minutes at 190C should be enough. Otherwise, using an air fryer will take about 8 minutes, at 180C.

With your timer on, take your bread dog pieces and slice each one in half. See that cheesy center and that soft, delicious bread? It looks absolutely wonderful! Arrange your Idol Bites on a serving plate and enjoy popping every delight in your mouth!

Crispy cheesedog buns

But of course, we can’t forget about these Idol Cheesedog Buns either!

For those who want a little more crunch and texture, don’t worry! This version of the Bread Dog has all that and more. And the first thing you need is a loaf of delicious bread! Flatten each slice with a rolling pin, and spread creamy and spicy mayonnaise on one side. Take 12 CDO Idol Cheesedogs, and wrap your now mayonnaise covered flatbread around each dog. To ensure it doesn’t fall apart, be sure to secure it with a toothpick!

Prepare the scrambled eggs in one bowl, and a cup of Panko breadcrumbs in another. Heat 1 ½ cups of cooking oil in a small cooking pot, making sure it is perfect for frying. Once that happens, dip your cheese dogs in your egg mixture, then roll it around the panko breadcrumbs. Watch it thoroughly, making sure you haven’t left any part exposed! Deep fry your Idol Cheesedog buns in a pot (be careful of hot oil!) and wait until you reach that beautiful golden brown. Line a drying rack with a paper towel, and after frying, put your cheese dogs in there to shake off the excess oil.

When finished, slice the sausages in half and arrange them on a serving plate. You can serve them alongside your Idol Bites or on a completely different plate. Either way, it’s time to dig in! Your Bread Dog Bites are sure to be the star of any gathering or party – once you put one in your mouth, you won’t be able to get enough!
