When you’re planning a big food-focused event like a certain football game this weekend, I think it’s important to serve something super colorful and healthy along with the wings, queso, and whatever graces your table. This 10 layer Greek dip is perfect. It’s pretty simple to throw together, has lots of crunchy veggies and great Mediterranean flavors. It’s so good that my family honestly almost made dinner out of it!

Too much of a good thing can be just that: too much. For example, I once spent a weekend with some friends over beer, meat, cheeses on the weekend. At the end, I remember going to a game day party and craving lettuce off the top of someone else’s taco dip. My body was like, “Vegetables please.”

I like to serve this dip with just 7 quinoa chips which are really light and crunchy but still hold the dip. If you have never tried them, they are excellent and come in several different flavors! Love this recipe? Check out my 12 Easy Game Day Recipes.

What is the basis of dipping this layer?

Many layered dips start with a heavier base layer like sour cream or cream cheese. But I went for something lighter for this dip. The base is a mixture of chickpeas, Greek yogurt, olive oil and some simple spices. Trust me it’s delicious!

Alternatively you can use tzatziki sauce for your base layer. I make a homemade version in these lamb gyro flatbreads.

What are the layers in this immersion?

This layered Greek dip is mostly chopped and it doesn’t really matter in what order you do the layers. But here is my invitation!

First are the crunchy green peppers and cucumber. Be sure to scoop out the seeds in the cucumber (too much water).

Build!

The next layer is chopped artichokes and Kalamata olives! Be sure to get the artichokes that are in water and not in oil.

Now for some color! Add grape tomatoes and chopped banana pepper! You can also use red peppers for this layer.

More.

And finally some feta and fresh parsley! How can you not love the colors here?!

Obviously this dip can be made well in advance, but I wouldn’t go more than a day in advance as some of the vegetables start to lose their luster after a day or so. But do it the day before and it will be perfect for tomorrow’s game!

Other layer options and ideas

This dip is very flexible. I actually use it as a fridge cleaning dip and mix in whatever I happen to have. Here are some ideas!

  • Celery or minced red onion – for extra crunch these are great additions.
  • Fresh mint or fresh basil – for an extra layer of herbs.
  • Lemon zest or fresh lemon juice for a citrus punch.
  • Pickled jalapenos for a spicy kick.

What to serve with this Greek layer dip

Dip in something crunchy for this dip. I served mine with these Simply 7 chips, but you could use pita chips, crusty baked naan bread, or even tortilla chips in a pinch!

If you want to go over the top, you can serve this dip with fresh baked pita pieces like I made for these Greek nachos!
