find delicious, healthy Snacks can be difficult. But this simple recipe for home baked chips has been tried and tested by yours truly, and is totally the way to go!

What ingredients do I need?

  • 3 roasted potatoes
  • Oil spray (vegetable, olive or favorite)
  • salt/pepper to taste

How do I make homemade chips?

Start by thinly slicing the potatoes with a mandolin slicer, or carefully with a knife. Then place the sliced ​​potatoes in a large bowl with water. Let the slices sit for about 20 minutes.

I often drain the bowl after about 30 minutes, then soak in fresh clean water. You will see the water turn milky white, which is the starch leaving the chips.

After removing most of the starch from the chips, place them on a paper towel and let them dry as much as possible. The drier they are before they go into the oven, the crispier the chips will become. If the slices are still wet when baking, they will end up “steaming” in the oven, more than “baking”. As a result, soft and chewy chips are created. Which no one really likes, right? The crispier the better!

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray your baking sheets with oil, place slices on a baking sheet, then spray the tops of the slices with more oil. sprinkle salt and pepper. Bake for about 15-20 minutes.

**Since there tend to be hot spots in the ovens, check often and pull anything that is already browned.

Remove the chips from the sheet to cool. They will become crispier as they cool.

    3. After most of the starch has been removed from the potato slices, drain the water and place the slices on absorbent paper to dry.
    4. Spray baking papers with oil, place potato slices on a baking sheet and spray more oil on top of them. sprinkle salt and pepper.
    5. Bake at 400 degrees Celsius for about 15-20 minutes. Check often and pull off any that are already brown.
    6. Remove the chips from the sheet to cool. They will crisp up as they cool.
