Want the juiciest chicken recipe ever?? So you need to prepare these 3 ingredients Chicken marinade. It’s the simplest combination of garlic and herbs, a hint of melt-in-your-mouth buttery flavor and then that pop of champagne vinegar. And it’s a must if you’ve never tried using different vinegars.

Last summer we were crazy busy trying to move and I needed some quick and easy dinner recipes. On a whim I bought a bottle of champagne vinegar and whipped up a lazy 3 ingredient chicken marinade that ended up being the best chicken marinade ever. Chicken marinade ingredients

You can’t get any simpler than just 3 ingredients for the most delicious chicken marinade! This is all you will need:

  • Olive oil – the base of the marinade and helps the chicken stay moist and juicy
  • Champagne vinegar – It can be hard to find sometimes, but it really is the best flavor for this marinade
  • Kinder’s Buttery Steakhouse Seasoning – We buy ours at Costco, but I’ve seen it at Walmart and Smith’s, and of course there’s always Amazon

How do you make grilled chicken marinade?

I like to throw all three ingredients into a shallow baking dish and mash it all together. Then place the chicken breasts into the marinade and let them toss to coat both sides. Then let it soak in the fridge.

You can also use a Ziploc bag for the chicken marinade. Simply whisk all the ingredients together in a glass measuring cup and pour the marinade over the chicken in the bag and let it sit in the fridge until you are ready to grill.

Can other types of vinegar be used?

The best substitute for champagne vinegar is Asian rice vinegar. White wine vinegar or sherry vinegar are also good substitutes.

Red wine or apple cider vinegar are fine substitutes, but they are less sweet and hold a sharper vinegar taste.

Can other pieces of chicken be used?

You can definitely use this marinade on chicken thighs, wings, or drumsticks.

How long to soak chicken

Soaking chicken for even just 15 minutes can add so much flavor to the chicken. I found the sweet spot for this marinade to be m 2-6 hours. For the best flavor and texture, this is what I recommend. If you have to go a little longer, it should be fine, but anything more than maybe 10 hours, and the texture will really start to suffer.

How do you know when grilled chicken is done?

The safest way to tell when chicken is cooked is to use a meat thermometer. The safe internal temperature for a chicken breast is 160 degrees Fahrenheit. We also discovered that the chicken has a way of showing you when it’s ready but breaking free from roasting on its own. It will no longer stick to the grill when you try to flip it or remove it from the grill.

What to serve with marinated chicken

Honestly, almost anything would go great with this chicken. That’s it diverse! If you want everything to be cooked on the grill, I have suggestions, and if you want to bring some of the cooking to the house, then I have you covered there as well. Here are some ideas:

Can you reuse marinade that has touched raw chicken?

Okay, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I do. All my other chicken marinade posts have said to never reuse marinade that has touched raw chicken. I’ve read everywhere lately that it’s actually fine to use as long as you bring it to a full boil. The temperature will kill any possible bad bacteria left in the marinade. So I really recommend it in this recipe!

If you just can’t do it, I totally understand! Just one and a half recipes for the marinade and save some for simmering and simmering into the sauce. Boiling and then boiling the sauce sort of confuses the seasoning of the Kinder and makes the sauce packed with delicious flavor that I pour over the grilled chicken.

How to eat this grilled chicken

You can eat this chicken simply as a main dish and it’s perfection! This is what we always do, but I always make a few more chicken breasts so I have some extra. It’s great for Salads or wrapping The next day for lunch. It is also perfect for adding a Pasta sauce or A bowl of rice.

How to reheat grilled chicken

I have found that the best way to reheat grilled chicken is in the oven. Heat an oven to 250 degrees and wrap the chicken in foil and put in the oven until heated. It will take about 15-20 minutes. Keeping it wrapped in foil will help the chicken not dry out when reheated.

Can marinated chicken be frozen?

Yes, freezing marinated chicken is a great meal prep option. Add the chicken and marinade to a freezer-safe Ziploc bag, and place in the freezer. It will keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. When you’re ready to use it, thaw in the fridge overnight and roast as directed.

It’s kind of anticlimactic when I tell them it’s only 3 ingredients, but that’s what makes it so great!

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a large plate and whisk to combine.

  • Throw 2-3 chicken breasts into the dish and leave to marinate (covered) for 2-6 hours.

  • After finishing the pickling, remove the chicken from the vessel. Pour the marinade into a small pot and heat over high heat until it comes to a boil. Lower the heat to medium and let it cook for 3 minutes and set aside.

  • Grease the grill with an oiled paper towel. Heat the grill to high heat. Add the chicken to the grill and let it cook on the first side for 3 minutes, then lower the heat to medium. Let it cook for another 3 minutes and then flip the chicken over. Allow it to cook for another 6 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees.

  • Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 3 minutes. Pour the cooked marinade over the top of the chicken and enjoy!
