These garlic cheese cookies just melt in your mouth and go with almost every meal. If you love Cheddar Bay Red Lobster Biscuits, you’ll definitely want to save this recipe. Super easy to make, big on flavor and one of our favorites. You can smell them in the oven and you just know they are going to be delicious. A perfect combination of garlic and cheese.

Ingredients needed for garlic cheese biscuits:

Self-raising flour

Vegetable shortening or butter

Grated cheddar cheese

butter (you can use regular milk)

Sugar

Garlic powder

salt (optional)

These biscuits have a great crisp on the outside but are fluffy and soft on the inside. As you can see these are just a few ingredients and you can whip them up super fast. You can shape them with your hands or just make drop biscuits. Anyway works just fine!

To save time you can use shredded cheddar cheese in a bag, but if not a cheese version of your own, I encourage you to give it a try. Shredded cheese in a bag cannot compare to fresh shredded cheese. Then once the biscuits are ready.. you can brush the tops with melted butter.. Wow! So good!

You can use regular milk in this recipe as well. We enjoy cooking with butter, the added fat is a great ingredient. If you don’t have butter, you can always make a substitute, of course it won’t add the fat, but it will help with the sourness of the butter. Learn more here!

“I made these tonight for a big family meal. Use cold butter and milk. Brush melted butter and garlic powder mixed together on the warm biscuits. They tasted just like red lobster. Thanks!!” -there is

  • 2 cups Self-raising flour
  • 1/4 Goblet Vegetable shortening or butter
  • 1 Goblet Grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 Goblet buttermilk Can use regular milk
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Optional
  • Place flour in a large bowl. Cut shortening or butter until the crumbs are the size of peas. Add garlic and sugar. Mix in cheese and milk.

  • You can make these as drop biscuits using a spoonful of batter and drop onto sprayed baking paper or you can shape them with your hands and make a larger biscuit. I did some of both with this batch.

  • Bake in an oven preheated to 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Brush the top with melted butter if desired. Makes about 18 biscuits
