If you’re feeling a little adventurous, try making these simple homemade croissants. You will be pleasantly surprised how much tastier they are. Much better than getting them out of a can!
What ingredients do I need?
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 package of dry active yeast
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of butter – cold, cut into small cubes
- ½ cup of milk
- ¼ cup of water
- Egg 1
These buns are soft, airy, and the perfect compliment to any meal.
How do I make easy homemade croissants:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast and salt.
Add butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or two knives to cut the butter until small pieces remain.
In a separate bowl or glass, mix together the milk, water and egg. Add to the flour mixture and mix until a dough is formed. Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface and fold into thirds. Turn the dough and fold again. Repeat a few more times. Then cool the dough for another 20 minutes.
Cut the dough in half and roll into long rectangles. Cut the dough into small triangles and roll into crescents.
Place on a tray with baking paper and bake at 375 degrees Celsius for about 10-12 minutes or until golden.
These easy homemade croissants are one of my favorite recipes to make from scratch. Serve them for your next holiday or any day of the week!
